As part of the eligibility criteria for the recently announced temporary pathway to permanent residence, applicants must have a recent language level proficiency test. For international students who graduated from a Canadian institution, they must receive a language level proficiency of at least benchmark of 5 or higher in either English or French. For essential workers, they must receive a language level proficiency of at least benchmark of 4 or higher in either English or French. Applicants can use a previous language test from a designated organization, as long as the test result is less than 2 years old when the application is received.
